The average MSRP across the field was $2,524, an eye-catching figure even in these inflationary times. Those included the CZ-USA 600 Alpha ($749), which took home a Great Buy award, the Franchi Momentum Elite ($899), and the CVA Cascade SB ($670). Of the 17 rifles that survived the test (as usual, we had some casualties that couldn’t keep up), we only had three with MSRPs under $1,000. So what trends, if any, can be gleaned from such a mixed lot? One thing noticeable by its absence were any bargain-basement price point guns. We had ultralight mountain rifles, lever guns, semi-auto carbines, scout rifles, heavy-barreled precision rifles, handy deer guns, one very specialized urban sniper rifle, and plenty of hybrids designed to serve multiple roles. The rifles this year were especially diverse.

Building the optimal level 29 hunter twink takes thought and planning. Otherwise, you will have trouble getting your pet leveled up because you won't have the exp at the end to gratuitously kill mobs for pet experience. As a hint, start farming your melee weapons in the early 20's, do all your gnomer quests at level 25 and 26, and then do the mastery quests and razzeric's racing gloves quests at level 28.ĭo the mob killing parts of the quests when you need to level your pet, then do the turn-ins for exp when your pet cannot level. You will need to plan carefully and have a friend run you through instances and quests to get all your equipment. Is a site for twinking rogues, but the armor listed is good for hunters (and druids and shaman to lesser extents). I made that mistake but I was lucky and finished 1300 exp shy of level 30 when the corpsemaker dropped for me in RFK (the last item I needed). If you are going to make a twink, don't put it off and accumulate rested bonus or you will very likely run out of exp before finishing your twink at level 29.

I think I have a shammy that is level 29+ with full rest that I will try this out on over the next few days.Ĭomment by AllakhazamThe complete quest chain (all 13 "mastery" quests) to get the gun and the armor set will give you an entire level (level 28). This should be entirely doable EVEN IF you are already lvl 29 and have full rested XP, AS LONG AS you have a high level friend help you out, UNGROUPED as described above. Let your buddy clear the path to the next set of mobs, don't attack anything that isn't quest related. You will receive minimal XP but be credited for the kill for the quest. YOU should tag the quest mobs with one low damage attack (low level gun shot, eg), and let your high level buddy finish the mob off. If you really want to minimize XP gains, then UNGROUP with whoever is helping you do this quest chain.

I'd say the majority of the XP was from quest turn ins, so being rested isn't THAT big a deal if you are worried about minimizing XP gained. My pet gained 3 and a half bubbles of XP (out of 6 I think). I was grouped the entire time, unrested (normal xp) the entire time, killed only the quest mobs and as few others as possible that stood in our way, and still gained 18 bubbles (out of 20)of XP. I started this at lvl 28, looking to twink my hunter with the quest rewards. It is well worth the time and many many ganks in STV (unless you pussed out and rolled PVE)Ĭomment by ThottbotI did the entire "Big Game Hunter" quest chain last night thanks to the help of a 67 War. This gun is better than ANY blue item in the 20-29 bracket.

(Since I was not a high enough level to do this) I put the gun in the, "will not be traded" section of the trade box and she applied the scope to the gun. I then bought a sniper scope (+7 damage) and traded it to the now level 40 shammy. After finishing the quest for the gun I had 18 unfilled bars left till 30. By the time I finished the chain quests (one of which gets you a sweet chest piece, I barely dinged 29. Grouped with two other people I was getting 134 XP rested and about 64-124 XP unrested per kill depending on the mob. I was getting 384 XP per kill doing it that way. I tried the system where I hit the mob once ungrouped with a high level and they finish them off.It does not work. So I had my two friends- Hunter level 37 and Shammy level 39 group with me to do them all. My hunter Twink had 5 bars of rested XP and I was nervous of getting too much XP. The quests will open up to you when you become level 28. Comment by ThottbotYou need to do all the chain quest's to open up the quest that allows you to get this gun.
